On January 17, 2018, several people from CTS attended the 15th Annual Construction Safety Day Conference & Expo at the Dayton Convention Center sponsored by Mid-America OSHA Education Center and the Cincinnati Area OSHA Offices. The conference attracted Safety Professionals, Human Resource Managers, CEOs, Operations Managers, and Field Employees from all trades throughout the region. There were a variety of breakout sessions covering topics such as rigging awareness, crane signaling, permit required confined space in construction, fire extinguisher training with simulator, and many others. Several of the attendees enjoyed the Live demonstrations from Dayton Power and Light. The highlight and the wrap up came from the OSHA case study plus Q&A session featuring Mr. Ken Montgomery, Area Director for OSHA. As some may remember, Ken attended CTS’s Safety Day last August. Ken will be attending our upcoming Safety Day this year .
This show allowed us an opportunity to speak with other individuals in the industry and vendors about how to continue our Culture of Safety at CTS. We were encouraged to know that we are ahead of the curve in multiple programs already in place and excited to get new ideas to make those programs even better.
Wishing something did not happen will not make it so, you must be vigilant and practice safe work activities always. As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, but in some instances a ton of cure can’t undo an accident or injury.
